The Steel Brigade

In the shadows of World War II, the United Nations was formed, and nations united across the world in a way that they never had before. Created under the auspices of peacekeeping throughout the planet Earth, the United Nations was designed to serve and protect all nations of the world. But there were those who were unsure of how the UN would go about enforcing world policy and decided that peacekeeping might not always be the best option for world security. Behind the scenes, several world powers convened and elected to create a hidden international task force, designed to secretly police and protect the planet, unencombered by separate politics and procedures involved in each individual country.

The Steel Brigade was originally formed as a union between the United States, Great Britain, Australia, and several other lesser countries. Top shelf commandos from each participating country came together in this new organization, designed to protect the world, sometimes from itself. As the decades went on, more countries joined the fold, and as of the year 2000, the Steel Brigade was a massive anti-terrorist task force comprised of some of the most talented, most skilled combatants on the planet. Each country has the option to retain a certain number of their most talented soldiers, but a series of checks and balances makes certain that the Steel Brigade is made up of a team of highly skilled warriors with a certain autonomy and jurisdiction over world affairs. As such, they don't often get involved personally, but have operatives globally who do work for them. When they do need to get involved, the Steel Brigade has the most state of the art uniforms, equipment, and weapons, and know how to use them. Their distinctive helmets are designed for all purpose surveillance, anti-toxins and even limited underwater operations. These helmets have also become a trademark for this Steel Brigade, and even the most evil terrorists can get a little weak kneed when they see them on the battlefield. Even though no one knows who these secret operatives are, their appearence is feared throughout the terrorist community.

Currently, the Steel Brigade are comprised of forces from the United States military and intelligence agencies, the British SAS and Action Force, The Russain military and Oktober Guard, the Isreali Mossad, and many other special forces around the world. They only answer to some of the highest powers in the world, and their sole focus is the protection of all innocent people regardless of their country of origin.

The Steel Brigade Commander is an unknown commodity, but is someone who has decades of military experience. His background is British, but beyond that, little is known about him. He has a brilliant tactical mind, and the utmost respect from every one of his Steel Brigade team mates. It took him a long time of service to the world to gain the moniker of the Steel Brigade Commander, but he wears it as a badge of honor.

Steel Brigade troopers are often commandos from other corners of the world equipped with some of the default late model gear that's allocated to these highly skilled soldiers. Sometimes operatives in training don the Steel Brigade trooper uniforms, but upon graduation from that status, they often get their own customized uniforms based on the Steel Brigade look.

Currently, the Steel Brigade work hand in hand with the ultra Black Ops Renegades team, who are borrowing Steel Brigade resources to begin their own secret anti-terrorist task force. General Hawk and the Steel Brigade Commander are working hand in hand and their ultimate goal is stopping global terrorist, and COBRA specifically, once and for all.
